I think everybody #$%*es and moans when they have to pay out money. But, to put into perspective, how much do you think it would cost to make tooling for the part and make one? Far, far more than the prices listed. If you can make and sell it cheaper, then you've identified a business opportunity.
Besides, compare the repair prices with the cost of a new bike and suddenly you have a bike that costs far less even with "expensive" parts, with similar utility. Plus, you fixed it yourself.
Anyway, Honda does not owe you a free bike. And, it is just silly for you to expect them to stock parts for 30 years and not make money on storage, handling and unit costs.
It's a perspective thing.
