Another new member from the land of Oz
« on: October 01, 2008, 08:31:21 PM »
I've been watching this site for a while and posted a tech query just today with some very helpfull advice, thanks, so I thought I'd better "do the right thing" and introduce myself. I'm an old fart nowadays (50 tomorrow!!) and when getting hitched nearly 20 years ago I had to sell the bike (a FXRC, HD, sorry guys).

Just last week I came across the CB350F which was a dream bike of mine back when I was waiting for my licence, so I bought it with the aim to restore, I'm thinking Cafe Race look (sacrilegious?)as all paint and chrome is in need of replacing, but, I have a very good motor that was rebuilt prior to previous owner putting into storage so I think its worth it(?)

My bike history if you are interested

Pre licence a suzi savage 250 dirt bike, late 60's
Dad bought me a CB250 in 1976 (95mph flat out down a mine shaft)
I bought me a Suzi Titan 500 (1968) to restore, what a rattle bus, I remember my feet tingling 30 minutes after getting of it after a long ride, sold it andmade $$'s on it
Sold the CB250 and bought a CB650 in 1980 new, beautifully bike wish I still had it but the truck actually ran over it!! and it wasn't my fault
bought a VF750 in 81 with the insurance money (thank Dad for insisting on that) another great bike, called a Sabre in some parts, but not a good handler, great tourer,

I found myself riding with Guzzi's and Laverda's and Col had a CB1000 6 massive bike,  so the SD 900 Ducati came along, an absolutely fan bloody tastic bike which I kept for many years and sold for more than I paid for it!! (always important)
Then the first missus flew the coop so the rush of blood as well as the need to spend the cash meant the HD came along, not a mistake just a period we all need to go through!

Sold the HD and bought a garage/new wife/house/kid

now we move to the present day and the forlorn CB350F that was of to the the knackers, I felt so sorry for it and I had to grab it, did I do the right thing and should I attempt to restore (having done a few cars in the intermediate period I feel capable) just worried about getting the bits, someone convince me.

Anyway if any other from the land of Oz have a few spare 350F parts lying around please drop me a line, I live between Canberra and Sydney on the Hume so if you are close by............

enough BS for now

cheers

last word

Good club which I hope I can ad value to!

Out of all the info on the web this is the definitive site, well done

G`day yendor
Welcome to the madness, my first bike was an old cb 250 twin great little bike.
Been 20 odd years between my last bike and my 750 so we are in the same boat there.
Greatest place for info on these old girls is right here, cant beat the knowledge base we share here.
Catch you round the boards

Hey Yendor,

Joined just after you and noticed you were in the "Greater Sydney" area, so thought I would say hello. I don't have any CB350F parts, but if I see any in my travels I will pass it on. Sometimes the Goulburn swap meet yields something, but personally I have found it a bit patchy last time I went and skipped this years meet.

You looking for anything in particular?
