Topic: Partsnmore shocks and the top bushings

A pair of new partsnmore shocks were dropped off the other day and I expected this to be a very quick install after I did the rear swingarm bushings and new head bearings...guess I was wrong    I was rather perplexed as what to do with the new shocks.  First of all, the bushings were no where near the correct diameter for the shock mount.  Secondly, the shock mount eye was slightly narrower in width in comparison to the old shock.  I know others have ordered this very same set of shocks.  How were you able to overcome these obstacles?  I attached some eye candy from my stash for views!

I got new 11" rear shocks and had to remove the inner ring for them to fit.  You can use a nut/bolt and two sockets to squeeze them out or, as I did, used a leather mallot and tapped on the shock head and they both slid out quite easy.  It was bit snug going on with the rubber but not too bad.

The old shocks that I have fit perfectly, but there was no way that those old bushings were going to fit the eye of the new shocks.  The outside diameter was just way to large.  I did press out the bushings in the same manner that you suggested.  Also, on the lower swingarm, how snug is that thing in your clevis?  Mine, if the shocks were bolted up right now, would have a good deal of slop.  I can't imagine the handling characteristics being improved in that way

I imagine you could slide a washer in between the clevis and swingarm mount.  I just cranked down on the bolt a bit and it pulled together.  You can see where it pulled in.  I have not ridden the bike since I have added them becuase I am waiting on the seat to be reshaped and a bunch of foam removed.  Also, still need to find a 16" rim/wheel to mount to it.

To me, it does not look like there will be any issue but someone may disagree.  Someone may chime in if they feel otherwise.

I just sent an email to partsnmore regarding this subject.  I'm really frustrated since I tried to drill out the new bushings to fit the mounts on the bike, which ended up with a big mess and absolutely no results.  I also tried to find someone in the area that might be willing to fabricate said bushing...once again, no luck.  What a pain in the arse...   I've attached some pics of what I'm talking about.  The rubber bushing is the correct outside diameter, but the incorrect inside diameter.  The metal sleeve is out of the old set of bushings off another set of shocks which had the correct inside diameter.

Which bushing is that?

Looks like it came out of the top eye of the shock. Is that correct?

Or are you having trouble getting new bushings in your swing arm?

You need a rim like this?
 the one on the right is a 16"er needs new spokes and the hub needs the peeling chrome taken off and some ceramic paint etc.
