« on: October 14, 2008, 11:39:07 AM »
i have a 78 cb550k and the cam and cover are looking pretty rough.i was looking at getting a new cam from web cam but my question is.does anyone sell inserts for the top portion of the head where the cam seats in. are you able to machine that section or is the specs to close to allow this.
pics of the carnage to follow :o

Repairing cam journal damage is usually not cost effective. Most people look for a good used replacement head.
Some Kawasaki models use replaceable inserts, like tiny main bearings, but i doubt these come in the size you need. If they did, the machine work to install them would be expensive.
