hi everyone.

I am from London in the UK..

Years ago I owned both a 400/4 Yoshimura and a 550/4 K7. (I think :-) It was a while back)

I currently run a street tracker XS650, with a complete resto-rod setup, powder coat, zero mile rebuild, vapour clean etc..
She's real nice, but I miss the growl of a simple four. And may sell or swap for a decent 750 SOHC of any type. So long as its got spoked wheels :-)

My question is, are there any parts specialists for these bikes like there are for the XS650? Web searches havent been that revealing for me...

 Welcome to the site Jake.  I say keep the XS650 and get a 750 to sit next to it. One can never have too many bikes, can one?

   Lots of sources available for OEM/aftermarket/performance parts for the 750's. We have a list of a lot of good ones in the FAQ section of this site. First link is free as an introductory offer

I am quite close to you in the grand scheme of things...

You are right I did a little research..I think anyhow..it looked identical to the K7 range in the 750's but smaller. Same paint colours (burgundy) and it was a T Reg '79. Spoked wheels rear drum and rusty 4-4 that had to go..it never failed me..but I swapped it..like I always did back then.

Trouble is, I cant really afford to run two bikes at the mo..

I dont want to, but I may have to sell or swap the XS first..

Old Honda spares are not a big problem but from time to time you'll find the odd part discontinued.

David Silver Spares in Suffolk is about the best over in the UK.

Some of my bikes date back to 58 and I can still get most parts from him.

Lots of good info on this board and a great bunch of guys, it's a real community, not virtual

I already checked out DSilver's. And couldnt beleive how much cheaper Honda stuff is than Yamaha.

I love my XS it was / is a labour of love like any old bike.

But I am feeling so strongly drawn to the CB.

I will probably save up for one fairly sharpish definately before next summer. But if someone came along and wanted to swap, I'd consider it, but my XS is super clean and always has at least 2 or 3 people grinning at it. So I feel I should get decent dosh for it, even though its non standard.

It features, a complete engine rebuild, new oil pump, new clutch, new pistons & rings 1st OS. New Inlet Valves (the old 650's suffer stem damage when used with 10w40 instead of 20w50. New C&S, New Shocks, Rebuild Front Shocks, Rebuild Calipers and Master Cylinders, new pads, complete 100% Solid State charging system and relay activated electrical system (makes a perfect 14.1v all day long) including a lightweight glass mat battery and 1 off loom and battery cage. A Dual One way valve breather.

A complete crystal finish fresh powder coated frame, and every bit of alloy you see on the bike is vapour cleaned. NOT painted silver.

I love it, but I guess as its not original, its not everyones cup of tea, it is mine, but as I said, I have a hanckering for a CB750, I've always wanted one!....

I feel the same about a CB750..F1, K7...anything with spokes!...

Do you think I could get a good CB750 with the money I could sell the XS for? Ebay I guess...It must be good one, I had her up to the max today and it didnt break. Nearly ruining my underpants however, I'd forgotten how scary old bikes are at high speeds!

Now all I gotta do is raise the dosh..

I guess I could punt the XS out on the bay, but I have a big paint job to do on it..it will end up going out with a really A1 paint job...(Silver strip black over silver, mainly black...)

Oh God..so many nice bikes..thats a good F1 aint it..(he said very interested)

Not perfect by any means but you don't see many with the standard exhaust nowadays!

no i meant perfect in terms of what I was looking for...

Something that can be "restored" by mearly taking it apart and cleaning components bit by bit, replacing a few parts and enjoying it as you go, still being able to ride it for most of it...

Whereas my bike was in tesco's crates!

What are the "imperfections" if you dont mind me asking...motor ok? frame paint good? seat base? Hope you dont mind me asking?
