Did things ever work out with the S&S Exhaust?  Or could the guy not find something that worked....

He ended up kinda flakin out, took him three more weeks to tell me he didn't have anything. He's refunding my money, but I see he's got a new batch of stuff on ebay...so, just to get things rolling I went with the easy-mac.

Been working on the rest of the little bits. Got the rear wheel and brakes sorted. Applied chain. The 750 rotor and caliper for front doesn't look promising. The bigger disc runs into the caliper arm. So I'm gonna try the 550 rotor with the 750 caliper mañana but if that still doesn't work then I'm back to the original stock set up but with the ferrodo pads so that's not nothing. With the brembo mc and ss line I should still see some improvement.

So next is headlight, wrap up wiring, fork brace and fit the new tank. And the big one: Seat. Got a stock seat pan an will take it to someone for some needlework.

Well, do they make one that is a replacement for the stock 550 rotor? I looked at the catalog on wps and they only list 750. I don't know if those dimensions will work. If I can get one to fit with the 750 caliper and 550 forks then I would probably do it...that would be a really good addition to my other upgrades.

Ive got 77 550 forks. With the 750 rotor, the disc was just a tad too tall for the caliper to mount up properly...

I had outside diameter of 750 rotor turned down to 550 size.
 Its damn hard stuff, grinding would probably have been easier

was that an ebc rotor pj? I'm at least getting the benefit of the larger 750 caliper piston but I would love a rotor upgrade...

Have you a a chance to scrounge some pods yet?

I'm taking the seat in to a shop today...

Nearly done with front brake set-up. Need to tuck/mount electrics. Saw a pic of my finished tank and it looks sweeeeet. Hope it fits...

Waiting for a call back form the UNI guy... I found some pods that will fit in the space.. but the carb inlet size is way too big. Hoping he can either make them or find a set sitting around for me.

OK:

For fabbing this seat, I am using the stock pan/hardware, Only Problem is: I need the male part of the locking/latch assembly. It is no. 57 in the fiche below:



Part no. 77220-340-003. I have Not checked if they are still available from Honda, thought one of you wonderful folks might have one laying around. It looks like this part crosses with all 550s and only 750s from 72-78.

 don't remember, was at least 10mm (3/8th inch) larger diameter.
 If you have lathe, mount an angle grinder on toolpost and grind it down ( it screams and screeches if you turn it, no support except from carrier)
BTW, it was stock Honda disc, I believe EBC is a little thinner

man, I probably don't even need that much taken off. I'll have to look at it again and see if I can get away with less. It was pretty close with the 750 rotor so maybe like 1/4-3/8" would do it??

Regarding the seat lock thing; both David Silver & CMSNL in Holland list them as being in stock - $18 ish plus shipping. It's the same part as on the 750s.

I had one on my seat that I tossed, can't remember if I kept it in my box of bits or not; I've a nasty feeling I thought "..no-one will ever need this.." and threw it away. I'll have a look and see if I kept it.
