Wow how did I miss this! What a great looking bike! Reminds me of a flat tracker or something I saw in Japan. Very very nice!

How does it ride?

cheers
Andy

rides great so far. needs a few minor tweaks and I'm still getting used to it, but it's pretty friggin cool, actually...

I forgot to add that I put on Ferrodo platinum pads as well. I had a little trouble gettin it bled out properly with the speedbleeders valve. Resorted to doing it the old fashioned way and it worked out much better. I mention this cos I think I could do better with the bleeding. After talking to Michael at Vintage Brakes, he said that I would have more
lever travel than what Im used to (stock 750 setup). That said, I like I a lot. I'm tryin to go easy on the pads (per bedding in instructions) but the feel is much more
sensitive than the stock. I only have about 7 miles on the thing right now, going to get it out today for a bit...

Wicked bike, I just love it.  Great attention to detail.

But I wouldn't run V-stacks without an inner fender.  I would be too concerned with all the crap getting thrown into them.

thanks for the kind words. as far as the stacks go, I don't know if you could tell from the pics but they are fitted with fairly fine mesh screens. I don't see how anything big enough to do damage could get through them...

Fine dust and dirt will still fit through those fine mesh screens, and your engine won't like you for it... :(

Really clean bike man looks awesome especially with that tach and speedo set I want to do the same on mine. Where'd you find the headlight mount brackets? they look pretty sweet.

I saw the mesh covering them in one of the photos but I wouldn't do it to a bike I cared about.
I love the look without the inner fender but not worth the risk.

Here's a test for you that won't take long and is easy to do.
Take off the stacks or just take off two from one side. lightly coat the inside with WD40 or motor oil put them back on and drive for a couple hundred miles.  Then check and see how much grit is stuck on the inside surface.  Now imagine how much went in the engine.

Fair enough...

Yeah, those headlight brackets are nice. I noticed though that maybe the bracket needs to be countersunk just a little bit to get the bolt holding the headlight to sit flush, or is it just the photo?

that's the result of the buckets outside dimensions being a little short, forcing me to turn the brackets in slightly to mate up. Also, choosing the flathead screws with no countersink in the brackets is highlighting the sligh misalignment. You're right though that countersink would be nice, aligned properly flush or not.

The tach and speedo are from cyclex, pretty cheap and work well. The headlight brackets are from ttr400 (forum member here that fabs a lot of his own parts www.ttr400.com) and were not cheap but I really dig his stuff and wanted something for this build.

thanks dude. I'm pretty stoked with how it's turned out. What's surprising to me is not only that I managed, more or less to achieve my early vision, but that the friggin motor went from a pile of ziplock baggies to a functioning apparatus. Who'd a funkin thought this guy had it in him...

Anyway, haven't had any time this week for any tuning tweaks. Construction on the biz is nearing completion and if  going to open before Christmas, I need to quit dicking around with motorcycles and get my ass back into the working stiff mentality...
