my new swap meet score.....
« on: October 04, 2008, 12:32:12 PM »
1973 cb750 bottom end, block bored out for bigger than 836 big bore kit (methinks 900cc), Alcoa rods, gun drilled and knife edged crank, with pistons...........$50

The crank spins but there is a mess of garbage in the bottom of the engine.

pics coming soon.

Top score........now what are you going to do with it? ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

well, the frist thing I think I am going to do is get a new battery for my measuring calipers so I can tell how big the pistons are. Then I am going to see if my new in box LA sleeves fit the case before I do anything else. I have a new RC 1036cc kit, plus several yosh 811 and 826 kits I can play with. Either way it is going to breath fire. Lots of fire. Maybe I will even use the last of my 970 kit stuff on the bike it goes in. heheheee

I am debating going back for the head for that bike since it needed a total rebuild, but it might be worth it to have a ported head. It might just be worth it to call Mike Riek up and send him my NOS head plus the bottom end and have him do it fresh and new instead but I am unsure yet.

I inspected it last night and the whole assembly has been balanced and blueprinted (as near as I can tell from the grinding marks and polishing I found). The bearings looked pretty fresh but since there was some junk in the bottom of the cases I am going to rebuild it.

I was there at 10am helping out because I had to go out east by 1. I saw you riding up there as I was driving away. Did anybody buy that old beat up head they had? it was the match for my motor but they wanted a lot for the head and it needed a total rebuild. If you knew what you were looking at there were some nice things there (the stock carbs with v-stacks and 130 main jets for instance were really clean inside indicating a fresh rebuild, but were so cruddy outside they got passed over a lot). I might still go back for the head if it was not sold, it had titanium retainers but it was hard to tell because the valve springs were so rusty.

BTW anybody know cb750s tuners that would have gone by the singature E&L or E&V?
