CB750F vs CB350F
« on: October 07, 2008, 09:42:37 AM »
Forgive me if this question wreaks of "noob" but indeed, I am one.  :-[

I'm sure many have noticed a ton of reference books and info on the 750 and relatively little on the 350.  Just curious.  Exactly how different are the engines?  (Clearly the 750 is bigger...  I get that.)  If a guy studied up on the 750 literature, is he by default going to be able to apply much of that to working on a 350?

some things are pretty universal to working on motorcycles (and even cars) where only the measurements and numbers change, while others are night and day different.

To answer your question the cb350F is nothing like the 750. Yes they are both single overhead cam motorcycles and that is about where the similarities end from a maintenance standpoint.

Honestly, the only things you need to "Learn" a cb350F is a manual, a set of tools, common sense, a cb350F, a driving curosity, and understanding that what ever mistakes you do can be undone with enough time, patience, and money.

so don't wast your time studying the 750 "literature", download the 350F manual from this site, get the honda general manual also, and go from there.

Lotta things are similar between Honda Motorcycles of our vintage.....

For example: Points, Coils, ignition. Yeah they are different sizes but setting the points, checking coils etc is the same procedure.

Same for the Brake systems...350,400,450, 750 ...pretty much the same system. Size varies as do specific part numbers...but their the same.

350 has a completely different motor but the basics are the same

That being said...you NEED the manual for the specific motorcycle.
