  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Actually doesn't look too bad. Same color as mine but with less weathering. The exhaust looks like it might not pass inspection ;)
If he was closer I might consider buying it (plus the wife would have to be sleeping when I bid)

Terry,
might be worth bidding on for the seat latches. ha ha

This auction has only been up for 12 hours, it won't be "cheap" for long.  Plus, it's a reserve price listing, so who knows what the actual starting bid is?

There are a LOT of missing pieces there. Bidders "in the know" probably shouldn't go over 500 to 700 dollars. Be interesting to see "what the market will bear." If that was Pennsylvania, I would get in there. Shipping costs alone may double the price. I'm surprised it wasn't "parted out" -- it looks like someone started to!

Good luck to the winner -- post some closeups when it arrives . . . of your fat wallet about to be emptied!

That's easy Gordy, make a bid and find out! I'd bid on it if I could afford the shipping to Oz, I'm not really a K0 fan, but being the first model CB750 I suppose it'd be good to have one. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Considering the most valuable parts of that model year are either missing or not in good condition (mufflers, seat, tank, side covers), the most I'd probably pay for it is about $400.  And that's if I were in the market for another 750, which I'm not.  My guess is the reserve is set somewhere around $800, if not more.

VIN number is too high, unless it has a much earlier engine in that frame.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Does this thing have value if restored,  ....beyond the amazing gratification one gets from scraping their knuckes and spending your childs inheritance?

From memory the sandcasts go up to frame/engine numbers somewhere arround 17000. So this is quite a way after.
Many of the parts will be the same as sandcast ones and if broken up will undoubtadly be sold as such. But it's the realy rare unique sandcast bits that fetch the big money. Like the ignition switch, oil filter cover, crank cases etc.

The speed warning buzzer is something you see on Japanese domestic market bikes, which this probably is.

BTW - Terry you either have far too much time on your hands, or a masocistic side, why spend your time looking at ebay sales you can't bid on? I too wish for US ebay prices......but we can't have all we want, that's what the wife tells me. I get stuff posted to work these days!
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

I'm no expert on "sandcast" 750's, but the "rare" items like "wrinkle tanks", smooth airboxes, unfinned oil filter covers, cable operated carbs, recessed ignition switches etc were common on all K0's, not just the sandcast engine model.

Masochist? Probably, but I buy heaps of stuff off Ebay, probably 90% of all my smaller bike parts hanging in my garage including spare seats, tanks, fenders, guages, switches, shocks, etc were sourced from Ebay US, without that resource I'd probably never have attempted another resto after spending enormous (for me) money on my 350/4 resto in 96/97 when I bought all my parts new from my (very) friendly Honda dealer.

I only came across this bike because I punched in "Honda CB750" in the search box, not because I was looking for a bike.

Derek, it'd be a nice restoration project mate, not too hard for a guy with your skills, any K0 (sandcast or diecast) will increase in value in time, it just depends on how long you want to keep it. The "Street Cred" of owning a K0 would be reward enough for some, there are plenty of admirers out there! Of course, I could buy it and you could collect it, then ship it to me, piece by piece? Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D

I agree with Terry that there are as many unique features of a K0 or K1 to love as much as a "sandcast" -- and at a fraction of the cost! If this one were local, I would put in a bid just to get at the matching tank, side panels, air box and fork fins -- I don't think I could replace them on my working K0 for 500 bucks. I hate to think parts, but I still think this will be a costly restoration ...
