Rats Bill! I knew about that one and never even thought of putting it on here!
I DID put this one on the forums before though. Not a Tracker but definitely a TRACK bike!
Just a reminder of how versatile and sophisticated the basic CB72/77 structure really is. This particular iteration certainly underscores the timelessness and genius of the original design. The bike pictured here is razor sharp and modern by any standard, yet remains, centrally, a machine penned almost 50 years ago...
A note from Chuck Kraeuter: This is my bike. ...It is mostly CB72. I raced it mostly as a 250 but also as a 350. It was crashed about four years ago and has not yet been rebuilt; someday maybe. The engine has a doubled oil pump, external oil filter and cooler, and a close ratio 5-speed Nova transmission. The ignition is on the right end of the crank. The 350 head was made from a CR72 so that the combustion chamber could be reshaped to provide more squish.
One thing I'd like to point out here, that I learned from the guys over at the 305 forums. The 2nd and 3rd gears are spaced out quite a bit and if you'll take and swap (they call it Xing) the gears (2nd and 3rd gears) from the main shaft to the counter shaft and vice versa, you will create a "Close ratio trans". Pretty cool. Now, in my case, I've got a project going where I hope to end up with a 5sp trans for my old Super Hawk. I'll let you all know, when I've had the time to give it a shot.
