Before you mangle anything, try www.hondakeys.com. He may well have a key and the price is quite reasonable.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

+1000, I lost my key, took apart the ignition, took all the little pins out inside so I could use a screwdriver  ::) :P, and then found the honda keys website 8) 8), for 30 bones I got three keys, two are for spares because when adding the human factor it makes keys magically disappear.  ;D ;D

for the ignition you can unplug it and hotwire it.   Or take the helmet lock of and see if a locksmith can fit a key.  Your gas cap is another story.  Had many parts bikes come in with jacked up caps.

The lock cylinders all have numbers on them. Someone once said there were like 6 or so codes. They were not high security devices.

I found 2  seatlocks on the shelf last week, but one was unnumbered!

Using the seatlock should work, UNLESS ignition is changed..
 BUT.. ....

before you check the locksmith, try the Honda dealer, ours always had a box of keys..

If hotwiring, undo at nite or take battery cable off, it may drain overnite!

Another answer is that most locksmiths can cut you a key by key code.  I couldn't get one from hondakeys.com, but a local shop referenced my code and cut me a key in about 15 minutes, cost $15 to cut by code, made 3 copies to bump the cost up to $21.  Keys cut by code have no margin of error like copies of copies will, they are true original keys.
