Snapring pliers for master cylinder
« on: September 22, 2005, 01:06:03 PM »
I am looking for a pair of snap ring pliers that are robust enough to remove
the master cylinder snap ring on my K0.  The points bend on the ones I have.
This ring is embedded an inch or more also so the doodads that stick in the
ring must be long or bent or ???. ??? ???

I'm sure the experts here have figured out a solution for this.  I note that
Honda callls out a special tool.  I anxiously await your esteemed advice. ;)

Some have just filed down a screwdriver. I used an angled punch on mine. Came out fine.

I went through this hunt a couple of years ago myself while overhauling the master cylinder on my CB750 K5. I finally found pliers that worked at Kowa Tools (America Kowa-Seiki) www.kowatools.com. At the home page, click on Tools, then under Common Tools click Pliers and Vices. I ended up buying all three snap ring pliers on that page just because it took me so long to find them.

I also went through the same search  a couple of years ago and someone here recommended the "craftsman" tool #47383 - snap ring pliers, available at your local Sears or thru their website. They just reached and worked well on my 75 400/4 master cylinder. I believe the 750K0 master cylinder is similar but cannot say for sure,  my 750 is a K6 (same master cylinder as the 400/4).

Hope that helps.
