I have been using the post on the Electrical FAQ to troubleshoot my electrical woes. It has been great so far; I have done the full load test on the battery, and that is in good order. It is when I do the RPM test I discover that the battery is not charging.
When continuing with the next steps, some questions do arise:
C. Resistance testing of regulator wires
When I check the resistance between the neg battery wire and black reg wire I do not have 0 resistance, it's around 1.8 - 2.0. Should this concern me?
Field coil does test good.
V. Testing the stator yellow leads
When testing wires 1, 2 & 3 from the stator, readings are greater than 1 ohm. Does this mean I have to replace the entire stator?
I get no readings when I try to test the stator wires in the harness (I feel this could be user error)
VI. Check the five leads to the rectifier
When forward bias test is done, the resistance is good (between 5 and 40 ohms)
When I try a reverse bias, I get no readings at all. Is this me again, or is there something wrong wit the rectifier?
