1978 cb750k breather?
« on: October 14, 2008, 03:22:20 PM »
Just putting the finishing touches on the bike to get it on the road after a 12 month rebirth.  Question is I am running stacks on the carbs and am not putting on the"emission Valve?" back on.  I figure I can just run a breather from the valve cover and the rear of the motor?  Also where did the breather on the bottom of the oil tank go to, can it be open with a hose ?  Do not recall where it went.
                                             Thanks Geno

I would put a filter on the crank case breather so you don't pull dust into the engine through it. Just a thought.

Used search and this seemed to be the closest topic.

I am rebuilding a 1978k. It has the fancy-ass breather on it. I am going to attempt to hide the electronics and I don't want that octopus hanging off the battery box (actually, I doubt there will be a battery box anymore).

What are the advantages to running the breather?

What steps do I need to take to get rid of it?
To the people in this thread above, yes, I'd love to see pictures...thanks

Yep, thanks...I know what it is and where it is. The K8 has a more elaborate breather system then earlier bikes. There's a big pod unit under the battery-box I think its just for emissions regulations, is that correct? So if I run 2 tubes from the engine exit-breather point through the swing arm/frame gap I'm good to go? Maybe run some sort of inline filters on them? Octopus eliminated?

The breather would just vent of the blow bye. normally the valve cover breather would run to the oil seperator were the oil would dump down the line by the swing arm and the vapor into the airbox. without an airbox you just vent into the air.
