I want that new tank smell...
« on: October 11, 2008, 02:17:21 PM »
Okay it's Saturday afternoon. I just installed the new exhaust on the del sol and I am moving onto the bike. I am going to take my pretty green tank and smash it up and make the inset knee areas on the tank. Just kind of following the thread from spikeybike. I got a butt load of bondo and primer. I'm going to use the Aphid green again, because I like it. I am also going to take the mold around the gas cap area and extend it all the way down to the bottom. This will either turn out really good or be all for nothing. Either way here goes nothing.... or something?

I like the looks of those inset tanks.  Never thought of just pounding on a regular tank and making it inset.  I will be following your post with interest.  Good luck.

It's true, I got a spare set of forks that are all nice and powder coated and will be slapping those on this winter and I have the gaitored fork seals so I will slap them on at that point.

The tank is coming along, I am just going to make one huge post when it's all done. Lots and lots of sanding.
