Hello!  sea/tacoma riders....

I'm thinking of going with the seat...

does anyone know of a good local upholsterer?

There used to be Parkland Upholstery, but the owner is laid up in the hospital. The only other person that I know of around here that specializes in motorcycle seats is Rich's custom seats, in Seattle...I'd look in the phone book, and see if there's anyone closer to Tacoma...

Rich's will do the work and it will be of good quality, but it will be very pricey.  He's really organized around the custom-tractor-bucket for the Harley-poser crowd and these guys don't blink at a $500 bill.  This looks like a relatively simple job where comfort is not the primary goal, so I would think any decent custom auto upholstery shop could do a good job.

It's not really local to you but they do some of the best work I have seen. Talk to Doris, she made my riding jacket from scratch and it's absolutely beautiful. They do seats, chaps, jackets, just about everything motorcycle. They were doing a seat for a Triumph thruxton last time I was in. If you send them the pan they will do a fine job.

Try Ricks Custom Upholstery in The Dalles, OR. He does fantastic work. We had Kitsune's seat redone by him and it is beautiful. I think we paid around $80 + shipping. We had it back in a week. We've sent other guys to him for reupholsery and they have all been really happy. You can't tell it's been redone. No weird, folded over edges, but smooth like the day it was on the showroom floor. It even has the gold Honda name across the back of her seat. It's actually better quality than original and he stitched in the parts that were just molded/ stamped in to look like stitching from factory. Can highly recommend this guy. www.ricksupholstery.net

He has seats covers for just about any name of vintage bike or can make them since he is a master craftsman at that stuff. Good luck with whomever you go with. Kit's "new" seat just made the bike.  ;D

1969 CL350 Scrambler... almost done!!! Well, until something else goes wrong. :)
2006 HD 883 Sportster, stock. No use changing it, it's still gonna be a Harley.
