 ;D
She's kinda ( I mean really) crazy... she super cheesed off my wife when she threatened to call the "Dog Police" on us because we leave them in the yard during the day. She said they looked lethargic in the afternoon. Well so do I, but nobody seems too worried about that! :D
I pointed a bare-assed Garden Gnome at her house.
I sometimes crack myself up thinking about that scene in that Cheech and Chong movie where Chong gasses his neighbors prize roses with his motorcycle in the living room. Anybody remember what kind of bike that was?...It probably would not be appropriate for me to rent that anytime soon with an observant teenager in the house!
Let me know how to remove them and I'll do it tonight ;D

 8) Ha Ha!  Give her hell!  May need to rich the carbs a bit when the baffles come out.  My favorite Chong moment is the scene where they go to the hospital and Cheech is havin his way with the nurse while Chong sits in the waiting room where the dude's falling asleep with a lit cigarette and keeps burning himself and some old guy laughts at him each time his does it while some phyco is balled up in his seat yappin to himself.  Chong just sits there blowed out of his mind observing the whole scene that keeps repeating itself for a good 5 minutes while Cheech goes about his business in the background.  Anyone else uh...remember that ;)?

She also has a fish pond in her back yard... perhaps I could run a hose from the exhaust and sink the end in the water.
Would I need to re-jet the carbs for the "extended" system? ;D
Hey... that surely would send her four yappie little dogs ( one of which, unprovoked, bit my daughter) to the moon! I bet one or two of 'em would drop dead with excitment or over-yappment... Hmmm...we'll see.

So, is there really any problems associated with non-baffled exhaust?  If you tune the engine around a baffleless exhaust, can you have a reliable machine?  I just got a Kerker 4-1 for my CB750 K1, and I wanted to know if removing the baffles benefits the performance of the bike.

I've noticed that this thread has a lot of discussion and not much solution ;D

On that note, I'm also curious to see what my bike REALLY sounds like under all that legal/enviornmental protection!

I really have to cut them? The other threads on the board led me to believe that you could remove and replace at will...
Oh well, I guess I'll have to get another bare-assed Gnome to aim at her house. or... leave my dogs out at night where they like to bark at things such as moths, geckos, lizards, lights, stars, cars, the moon, their water, trumpets, grass, the charcoal grill, the gas grill, hanging plants, dirt, tree rats (squirrels), etc.... :P
Someone please help!!!! I MUST annoy her!!!

It depends on the pipes you have too. Some do not have removable baffles. But all you should have to do IF you can remove them, is to remove a screw or bolt generally. You MAY need to retune but not always.
You can remove your baffles and cut them down and just put the back part back into the muffles to LOOK like your mufflers are still legal! See that way if she calls the police, they look and see a normal legal exhaust and do not do anything! ;D

They're the stock 4-1 on a '78 750F. I'll see about getting some pics... I might have to borrow a digital camera.
That would be great if I could cut them down. I'll first have to see how wonderfully loud I want my bike!
On a ten point scale, I'd say it's already at a 7 or so.
It needs to go to eleven :o
I think I'll go rev it a few times before I stable it for the night.

Just a suggestion, but why not get a replacement megaphone that you can modify to suit you? Acheap slip-on can be fitted, and if it has allens on the outlet you can pull the baffle and modify it, or make your own, or toss it over your shoulder and ride without. It'll make noise, but you should still re-jet for performance. Then you can have decibals but still have your stock muffler should you decide to use it again.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.
