Every couple of years I change the oil
« on: October 18, 2008, 02:45:05 PM »
Have to warm the bike up, and Mr Heffay called and told me to take some Pictures.  I hate stopping to take pictures.
(Maybe I should have put this in the Shamless Post Boost Thread- Pictures?)

Yes, the Blue Ridge Mountains really are blue ~

Why bother to stop?  Have the camera on the seat of the hack, ready to shoot.  Or even have it sitting on a tripod bungied in place.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Lovely scenery. I like that bike also. I hear riding with a side car is an art in itself.

It freaks some peole out, for sure.
It's not a motorcycle anymore, so it handle completely differently.
No motorcycle skill involved, really.

How about some close up pics of the bike?  Loved the scenery.  I have to ride an hour to gets hills of any kind, then I'm by the Mississippi and all changes dramatically.

I'd take pictures from Illinois, but I'm sure you've all seen row upon row of corn before... At speed it's almost hilarious.  Corn, corn, corn, cows, corn, corn, corn... and so on.

It IS a nice area to ride.  Possibly one reason so many people are moving here.  OTOH, they don't find out 'till they move here that median income for Asheville is less than $39K.
Anyhoo, In stark contrast to Sam, here is an action shot of me in a sharp right turn while jockying for a parking spot and trying to avoid One Who Knows All.

Uncle Ernie,

Beautiful BMW! Does the sidecar come off easy? Or is it one of those models were the sidecar is part of the frame?

UE, I saw a /2 with a sidecar setup that looked exactly like yours at Barber's...  That wasn't you was it?

I was there in spirit.
This actually is a sleeper;  an R100/2.  '65 frame with a '77 1000 engine.
Easier to take care of, and I didn't have to change the gearing.  It will pull tree stumps out of the ground.  (A little scary without the SC, but freeway roll-ons are kind of fun)

All pre-'59 BMW frames were ready to attach a sidecar to.  Aside from racing, I've never heard of any rig where the SC was an integral part of the outfit.  Might you have some names I can look up?
