1972 CB350 Frame Tabs
« on: October 20, 2008, 12:46:37 am »
I've got my frame down to bare metal and I'm going to start removing tabs but I don't know what all of their purposes are. I recieved the bike disassembled and I'm starting the blind adventure of putting it back together. The end product will be a cafe racer style bike with no airbox, hidden battery, and electronics. I want to make sure the tabs I'll remove do not belong to anything else.

OK, here goes:

A) I don't remember what its supposed to do but it might be useful if you ever want to mount a steering stabilizer.
B) I think those are for the battery box.
C) Holes for the grommets that help retain the sidecovers.
D) A mounting point for the stock air cleaners.
E) Hard to tell from that vantage point but it might be for the rectifier.

Hope this helped.

A is probably Crash Bar mount

Sidecover one is correct..

Word to the wise, some of the best bikes built are put together all the way, ridden to make sure everything works, then tore down and painted... not doing that, you will run a bit of risk if you start hacking away..

Something 350,s like to do with pods or sock filters, is blow off the carbs if it sneezes.. so, you may want to loook at bracing them.. Yeah I know they feel like they will stay, but poppong you carbs back in with an audience gets embarassing... :-[

'A' is for the friction steering damper that never got fitted  to later models, its way too lightweight for crashbar mount.
Its also fitted to CB360's
