cb500 stock airbox/mac 4into1
« on: October 27, 2010, 03:33:59 AM »
HI,
can anybody please give me a ballpark jetting figure for a stock cb500k0 running the stock airbox and a mac 4into 1 exhaust with baffled muffler. This would be for sea level. I was thinking about dropping the needle a slot and running 105 mains. Figured I'd ask before purchasing the main jets.
anybody else have a similar setup?

thanks,
chumma7

How does it run now? Seems to me it's the intake like pods, that effects the jetting, not so much for the exhaust. If it runs good then why "fix" it?

I have the MAC 4-1 and a Uni Filter in the stock airbox on my CB500. No rejetting was required.

You shouldn't need any jetting changes to the carbs for this configuration.  The Mac isn't a performance gaining exhaust, just a cheap replacement avenue for a rusted out stock 4into4.

Thank you very much guys. REally helps me out quite a bit.
The reason I asked the question was because I am currently restoring/rebuilding this bike for a customer so I never got to feel it run past simple idle. It's currently in pieces for paint while I clean the carbs.
I recently built another cb500 which had velocity stacks and a kerker 4into1. Tuning it was such a hassle but I finally got it as close as possibly with 110main jets and the needle dropped a notch. This is why I figured I may need to go with a 105 main jet here but I guess keeping the stock airbox saves me from having to tinker with jetting again.
Thanks again,
Chumma
