Wall of Death. Have you seen it?
« on: September 21, 2005, 03:34:50 AM »
I had the chance to see the Wall of Death yesterday in a fairground. Man, that gasoline smell and engine roar put my adrenaline high!!! The guys even rode a kart around the wall!! One of the bikes was an old Indian with front leaf spring!!!! I took some pictures but it was a film camera so it will take a while to have them developed.

From the topic line I was thinking...firing squad. :o

Is the "Wall of Death" the spherical cage that they ride a bike around in or something else?

That reminds me of this ride they used to have at the Six Flags in Dallas where I grew up called the Spindle Top.  You stand up against the wall and it starts spinning around really fast, then the floor drops out and you're left cligning to the wall.  Nothing will ever replace the memory of seeing the girl across from me vomit, only to have it splatter back on the unfortunate person next to her.  :-X

Thanks Merv...looks like a blast...can't wait to try it. As mentioned in my previous post I've seen a sphere shaped cage...don't know what it's called...where they ride a bike around in every direction possible. Haven't seen it since I was a kid but it used to amaze me.

Gordon, I know that ride well...ridden it many times, although I've never had the pleasure of seeing someone lose their lunch.

It is COOl, the aroma is void of oxygen, they have it @ the MID_OHIO vintage bike days every year. Everytime i see it I ask myself if it is the wall of death because the whole rig could collape @ anytime with 50 people standing over the pit.
this is the show @ MHVMD      http://www.wallofdeath.com/equipment.htm

I remember the spherical cage in TV, in the circus, when I was a child. This was the barrel-shape like the posted picture. People stand above and see the show.

Actually I've seen it in Germany, and the riders were german. When I saw the Indian on display I thought it was there as an ornament. How was I to know they would be riding it?????

Bump!!!! Here you have the pics. It's much different when you see it live, with the engine noise and the gasoline smell, along with the trembling of the seats and woodboards.

Not sure I'd like to risk my well being without proper equipment for the grand audience of nine people....maybe ten counting the photographer... ;D

I have a better memory of that ride and a very large breasted woman in a undershirt and no bra with her arms pinned to the wall.

These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I thought the same about the scarce audience, but it was last show that day and the fairground was almost empty. I repeated next day at 15:00 and though not crowded they had a sensibly bigger audience.
