PISTONS (970cc? 1000cc?)

Now that we have made the connecting rods the strongest part in the CB750 engine, it is time to talk pistons.

What are people interested in, 970 or 1000cc or both.

Give me some idea?

Jay,

1000 just sounds better than 970 to me.

I know the 970 gives you the option to go 1 size larger just by boring without any major undertakings such as building new cylinders (but thats only if you need to) for a second time. But since I'm only fulfilling an older guy's fantasy and I'm not doing hard core drag racing or putting 50,000 miles on one of these big engines it's not likely I'm going to need to go up in size.

I could use either, have a loose 970 cc barrel right now, and I have sleeves to make a fresh 970  (or use my pistons).

I think for the sleeving work & expense, it is nice to have an overbore option.

Will you be selling pistons seperate (less sleeves), and will there be 2 compression ratio choices.. like 10.5 and 12 ?

Will be selling with or without sleeves, and parts only or ready to install block assemblies ( customers block )

I'd prefer 1000cc - I have two 70mm blocks around which could use an oversize, one a stock block and one Japauto VX1000 - regardless they called it 1000, it is still 'only' 970cc.

I like the odd ball numbers, so I'd vote for 970cc. But 1000 seem nice, too....  ;D

confuse, I would rather say - the block was called the VX1000, on the sidecovers they had '950' emblems, and in fact it was a 970  ;D ;D ;D

You need a set of 73mm rings for an old 1060 (1055) kit?  Try a set of fourth over rings from the original Honda GL1000 Goldwing.

You need a set of 73mm rings for an old 1060 (1055) kit?  Try a set of fourth over rings from the original Honda GL1000 Goldwing.
