Here are some pictures I snapped at lunch today, and yes -- I know my bike needs a bath!   ;D

I spun the wheels up to 90 today and they seem great.  I don't think I'm a fan of the tread pattern on the front from a riding feel perspective though.  They like to catch grooves in the road...

Have you any idea of wheel weights compared to stock?

Nice score by the way!

  • So, what do ya wanna talk about today?
Well I'm not normally a fan of heavy cast mags mate, but those are pretty, and you can't complain about the price, so well done!

Take Andy's advice and buy some decent rubber though, I'd hate to see you toss that bike down the road for the sake of a decent tire............  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Agreed!  These will sit till spring and I'll swap out the relatively fresh Bridgestone BT45's rubber which was on my spoked wheels.

The mags are a bit heavier than spoked but not rediculously so.... Just a little heavier than the comstars.

They really feel rock solid though.  The hub was a little tweaked on my spoked wheel which was why I was looking in Craigs List for a replacement.  I couldn't go more than 70 without a little rear end wobble, which got scary above 75...

Around here you have to be able to do at least 85 comfortably to get around semi's doing 70 and get in a safezone.

Yeah, that's good mate, I had a set of those wheels that I sent to Carpy (He bought them from a guy here who wouldn't ship them OS) and they are heavy.

As there weren't many choices available for our bikes I looked for set like yours without success, but eventually the gods smiled at me and I scored a set of Borrani alloy rims, one from Ebay and one from Ron (MCRider1) here, and with bigger Buchanan spokes, they're still quite light, and seriously rigid.

When I finally get my finger out of my asss, I'll true the front wheel and install a new tire, and put them on my racer project. Cheers, Terry. ;D
