Back in HS in the 70s, all my jazz friends were listening to early Chicago and a band called Chase. Bill Chase was a high power jazz trumpeter who got into rock-jazz fusion before he died in a cliche plane crash with several band members.
Fast forward more than 30 years. I haven't heard Chase since my HS friends used to play his music. The other day our little synagogue group was helped out by the guy two doors down from the local symphony. He's a trumpeter, and we got to talking, and Chase came up. (The guy also played two years in the Beersheva Symphony, so we talked a lot about Israel.)
Today, while doing errands, I stopped into a local music store. They never heard of Chase, but the computer says they have one CD on the Jazz rack. Turns out to be two albums for one, and it's for the whopping price of 99 cents!
Cost me a $1.07 to relive some pleasant memories. How bad is that?
