Snohomish, WA Newbie
« on: October 22, 2008, 07:42:37 AM »
Just posted the other day for the first time on the 350 pages.
You guys, and gals, have a great thing going here.
This is my first bike, and its a 1973 CB350F.  I am the 3rd owner. It came from the father of a coworker, who bought it new in '73.   It was then sold to another coworker who maintained and serviced it. I bought it from him.  It was originally metallic olive, but was painted white.  The original owner was part of the Shriners, and bought this bike for use in parades.  All Shriner parade bikes are white. It had a full fairing, hard bags(unfortunately in really bad shape), and highway bars.  All came off, cleaned, and hung on the wall for a later date.  It has 9093 miles on the clock, minimal chrome pitting(under the 4 into 2 exhaust) and all the lights flash simultaneously(controlled by a switch on top of the headlight can).  This little number has been run for 10 minutes, every month, for the past 3 years.  It was in storage the 7 years prior to that.  Carbs needed to be cleaned to get it running smoothly. chrome polished up really nicely.  Still has the original 1973 Bridgestones on it (i'll be looking for some whitewalls for it asap).  Lots of fun still left in this bike.  My son and I are looking forward to it.  Thanks again for hosting and contributing to this site everyone.

Welcome.

Whitewalls should go well on that bike.  Avoid riding on those old tires too much.

What's wrong with the bags?

Unfortunately they were cracked, busted, and no keys. Unrepairable.
Looked like they were off the bike and had something heavy placed on top of them.
I ditched them.
I've just been running around the neighborhood on those old Bridgestones.
I'm going to give this whitewall tire paint a go once my new tires (IRC GS11's)are installed.

i'll let you know how it comes out.

Hey man! I live in Silver Firs - I'll have my bike ('76 CB550K) back from the shop in a week or so - I'd like to meet and talk tech and compare bikes. We live right next to each other.
