Gettin a Goldwing
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:48:43 PM »
Found a free 78 Goldwing in the local Craigslist. Picking it up tomorrow. No title and it's been sitting for a decade. Never had a touring bike before, so this will be interesting.  :D

Be sure to show us what you've come up with, always cool to hear that someone has been fortunate. 8) I know that it hasn't been seen, but I'd take nearly any bike that was free (and some that most other folks wouldn't even consider). ::)

Well, the batteries need replaced in the camera so  no pics for now.
The bikes in a pretty good state for not being driven for 10 years. The Vetter Windjammer needs replaced or repaired. It's got lots of cracking, and no windscreen. Bags need re-keyed.
There is decade old gas in the tank and it stinks!!!!! Need to empty that out and clean the tank.
Electrically it needs a blinker relay, wires reconnected and a new battery.
I'm going to check the carbs this weekend and try a good battery to see if it turns over.
Wish me luck.

I've had a love hate relationship with the GL1000 for a while now....

Nice score.

You'll have fun getting the tank out and the carbs clean.  :D
