Hello
« on: October 29, 2008, 06:41:56 AM »
Hi from Utah!  I just recently purchased a Honda CB 550k4 from a coworker for $300.  I didn't run when I picked it up but with some work it fired up.  Unfortunately somebody whacked on the sides of the outside carbs with a hammer and now the throttle gets stuck which requires manual efforts :'(  I am planning on a cafe restoration and look forward to the first ride.  I have read some of the topics and I am excited about the large amount of information shared by the members!  I look forward to sharing pics, stories, and info with all of you!

Welcome.

Someone must REALLY like their hammer to do that sort of damage to the carbs.  Are they visibly dented/deformed?

Got pics?

They are visibly oblong when looking down the cylinder.  I did the best i could to make them work but they still hang up so i am trying to win a set on ebay.  Should know the results of that tomorrow.  Then just hopefully do a quick rebuild and i will be off and running.

Well some people solve every issue with a hammer! Most of us here at least add duct tape to the hammerbox, I mean toolbox! ;D

My bike isnt going to be up and running until next spring but we should hook up and go for a ride when the snow melts.  Glad to know there is some technical assistance locally.  I am in Layton so not to far from Ogden.  Good hearing from ya and i will let you know if i have any questions.
