looks to be a good start, I've seen worse. The case gaurds you have are the big ugly across the frame jobbies that I usually throw in the back of the shed. They are plenty strong but big, heavy, and cumbersome. Instead see if you can find the smaller two piece case guards that just use the outer engine mounts. they will get the job done and if you paint them black or satin silver most people won't notice them. I have a black set on a supersport and nobody ever sees them.
When I laid my cb750 down the case guard bent all the way back and only dented the points cover which cost me $10 (plus $30 for another set of guards). On the cb750 there is no way for the guard to bend back and hit the cylinder, but on the 550s and smaller the bars stick out enough to impact the jugs when bent back. For the smaller bikes I don;t recomend them, but for a cb750 I always recomend them.
