At a glance it's hard to justify putting a new clutch in a vehicle you paid so little for......but think of the replacement value of the vehicle.
Another drivable trooper would surely cost more than the $300 steal you got in the first place so I say it's worth it.

I thought you'd know by now that we need a little more info than that. Like year/engine/drivetrain layout (logitudnal like a truck, or transverse like a Front Wheel drive car?

All in all, a clutch job isn't that hard.....but the parts are much heavier than on our bikes. Unlike our bikes, there is only one friction plate and two 'metal' plates. The friction plate is attached to the transmission via a splined shaft and the two metal plates are the flywheel and the pressure plate. That pretty much sums up automotive style clutches.
