Topic: Sidegapping Plugs ?

I just read that link.  Showing the direction of the new spark, I t would prolly be a good idea to know it is pointing more towards the center of the cyl versus the cyl wall i guess.

I did some research on this topic & the general opinion seems to be minimal difference, but the plug is more resistant to fouling.  As my Morini 3 1/2 likes to foul the rear plug (it either needs new valve stem seals or rings) I thought "What the heck, I'll give it a go!".  Well, I tried it on my NGK's, and the plug is definitely cleaner.  I need to take the bike for a bit of a run, then I'll report on my seat of the pant findings.

Well, I went for a longer ride & the rear plug is DEFINITELY cleaner (it is dark brown instead of oily black).  I'll stick with sidegapping..

I believe Pinhead is doing this on his high MPG cb60 build.

I tried sidegapping once, but I buggered 2 of the plugs up. Hit the center electrode post when  cutting the little arm to length.
So I never really got anywhere with them.

Have been running NGK iridium, and definitely not trying that on those.

I like the theory.I am going to prepare a set for my 1100F for spring install.It loads plugs like crazy after lengthy legal speeds!Cobra had same probs.,installed DP8ES plugs to resolve.   Rock On
