I cannot seem to get my engine apart
« on: August 25, 2007, 11:14:41 AM »
Good afternoon all,

I am trying to get the Jugs' case off the crank case.  The damn thing is stuck.  There doesn't seem to be anything holding it on.  I have rapped on it with a rubber mallet, sprayed gasket remover all along the seem hoping to penetrate, and have tried prying with a screw driver.  The thing won't budge.  pistons move freely, but that is about all I have going for me right now.

Any suggestions?

Its always a bolt or a screw you've missed.

Yeah, I experienced that removing the head, but there doesn't seem to be anything left...

I think there is one bolt deep inside the oil pan area, did you get that one?

On the 500/550 there is a "notch" at either end to fit a small pry bar (read screwdriver) into that is nowhere near any thing inportant
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

for some reason i cannot copy and paste the thread.so in a nut shell.hondaman says to spray liquid wrench on the gaskets let sit over night.apply again then take an olfa knife (exacto blade)and start sliceing into the gasket.in the search option i typed in engine apart.the thread title was engine disassembly problems (page two i believe)good luck.
