new bike
« on: November 02, 2008, 08:02:14 PM »
Hello.... big noob here... I have a few cb500's and a cb550.... but I'm picking up my first 750 in a couple of days..  1975 cb750F...  I've stopped by and started it up.... he already had it sorta warmed up... started off the button... sounded good..no weird clicking, smoking,etc.... all 4 pipes got warm... no apparent oil puddles anywhere... looked pretty clean... the tank is black flakecolor.. and the side panels are grey with Gold CB750F emblems..

the odd thing is the pipes.. 4 into 1...but the 1 is a big pipe that goes past the rear tire.... it has a stamped CB750 on it with a stamped HONDA on it as well... not sure it's stock....

anything I should be worried about ( things to fix first?)

You have far too many toys ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

What you describe sounds perfectly normal for a 75 F.

I always get nervous when I show up to look at a bike or car and it is already warmed up. Probably not an issue on a much older bike because we sort of expect certain issues etc. But a warm bike will hide alot of flaws that starting a bike dead cold will actually reveal.

Nice bike! That exhaust can is completely stock. The Handlebars are not.
Be careful when you use the kickstarter, you can shatter the right side cover with your leg on the kick through....don't ask me how I know... :-[
