CB/Harley RIM SWAP,
« on: July 07, 2009, 09:54:38 PM »
Wow I love this site! Every time I have a question you guys come to the rescue!
Here we go again,
I have a 1974 CB550k and I want to lace my Honda rear hub to a Harley rim. Has anyone done this before? I'm hoping that I can use stock-length (NOS) honda spokes as long as I get an 18" Harley rim (my stock rim is also 18"). Of course, the new rim will have the same number of spoke holes.
I have seen CB 750 hubs on 16" Harley rims, but I have no idea where I would get custom-length spokes. Any suggestions, pictures, or opinions may help. The reason for this is that I have a Harley front-end on the bike and I dont like the look of mismatched rims. I also want to run vintage Firestones.
Thanks in advance!!!

I got my 16" spoke kit off ebay. In fact I bought a second when I was lacing it up wrong I thought I had bought the wrong kit and when I compared the kits they were the exact same. So Ebay if you want to do the 16" rim, I'm not sure if there's a difference in an 18" Harley hoop, I don't see why there would be, just the lace pattern might change.
