No, it is definitely not the same, nor is it interchangeable.
Better sorry for failing then for the lack of trying.

Which year/model bike are we talking about here?

75 & 76 F's had the same front calipers as the K's I believe.... 77 & 78 F's definitely do not.

As far as I am aware, that should be a straight swap.

If not, I'm sure someone will chime in to put me right...  :D

They may fit 75 or 76 BUT.. BUT... I think that they may have been unfinned style like on a CB 500 4.. if they are the  brakeline orientation is a bit different (comes out sideways [toward tire] in the middle)

Have you cross referenced the part numbers?? Same numbers mean they are the same.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Phil's right, year and model is important to know. When I think of F's it's the F2. But of course F1 is a K with another dress and jewelry.

Is there nobody on here that can say, wether 75 & 76 F model calipers are finned or not finned ?

I have a new Q,
a 75 F I believe has the reservoir and master cyl for the rear cast in one piece.. does 76 have the same ??

Just asking cuz I saw one similar but the MC was part plastic..

just thinking it would be a nice looking MC to use to put disc on the rear of a CB 750.. matches the front..

The 75 and 76 F models use the same caliper and caliper arm, which is also the same as the K7/K8/750A(76 at least).
They are different to the K(69-76) caliper. Appearance wise- the F1 type use a hex head bolt from the outside, whereas the K0-K6 caliper use an allen head bolt, bolting in from the spokes side

The F/F1 caliper can be fitted to the 73-76K models, if you use the arm and bracket from the F/F1.
It cannot be fitted to the 69-72 (K0-2) model forks as they use quite different brackets, nor will it fit to the 69-76 caliper arm.

This a F/K7/K8 caliper

This a K0-K6 (silver for K0, black for K1-K6) caliper with a 73-76 'T' mount as used on the K. Although this looks like an early K0 caliper, it is fitted with  a 73-76K 'T' mount. The 69-72 use the same caliper and arm, but they use the "C" bracket and hence mounting setup on the forks is different

Early K0-K2 'C' bracket.

The rear MC is cast as one with the reservoir and is the same for the 75 and 76

That is what I thought, the 75/76 F has a smooth caliper..
However, I think the early  finned ones fit to the 73 & up bracket, there is a possibility that the swing bracket might be thicker where the caliper mounts, if that is the case, it may need shimming..

so to answer the OP, yes a K caliper may fit, but will not be correct..

ok - so then a 73-76K caliper will work on a 75-76F, providing the F caliper arm is used? and the K7/K8 are a direct bolt-on?

No.
You have to use the "K" caliper arm, as it is 5/16"  thinner than the "F" arm where the caliper bolts up.
In short, keep the "K" parts together, and the "F" parts together, and things should be groovy.
The cb550 and 500 calipers will not work either, for they may look similar to the stock F1 caliper, but the bolt spacing is entirely different.
Hope this helps!
