Topic: Intake tube stretcher

The carbs went on easy, my OE carb insulators have held up pretty well. But I was having a heck of a time with the airbox. The intake tubes are as hard as a rock. I've been keeping them oiled in hopes of softening them, but it didn't help nearly enough.

A golf ball is 0.100" bigger than the carb opening. I shoved 'em in and gave it 5 minutes at 200f, then shoved 'em in some more and another 5 minutes in the oven. The golf balls kept it warm until I got outside. The airbox went on as easy as pie.

Actually, I finally gave up on golf. My performance never even came close to my expectations.

had a hard time putting on the air box on my k8 today, noticed they only lined up if the little slash  that looks like this - its molded on each rubber boot is on top up 12:00 oclock on each boot,,then they lay nice and flat,they also had a flat cut on the rubber boots they face on the bottom at 6:00 oclock,,maybe only the k8s are like this? and maybe its been posted before oh well wish i would of known this ,had me quite sweaty for a bit

Great tip mate, finally a use for golf balls that doesnt involve that ridiculous game

I have race cars and had some tire softener sitting around and soaked some boots. After a day they still were hard as rocks. Then i realized the tires don't work until you get some heat in them. So I use a heat gun(wife's blow drier) and they was as pliable as new. since then, I have developed my own softener . but basically its just laquer thinner and trans fluid. hope this helps!
