It's in joliet...
I'd buy them, move the bikes, clean the property, sell it so the $$ for the bikes bust out to around 40-60 each(if possible in this economy)

I could start a small business.
I would if I had the $$ lined up.
Wow...I'd imagine there are quite a few gems in there.

Hang on a minute there, guys. You've heard the expression "too good to be true"? This time it rings out loud and clear in my ears when I look at the ad. Where's the catch?
It's not one of those "found this barn in the country, and lo and behold it's full of classic bikes" is it?
There's not much to go by is there? For $375,000.
Whose bikes are they?
Whose selling them? The advertiser or "he's advertising it for a friend"?
Something smells fishy and it's not the salmon trout my missus is cooking for dinner.

Caveat emptor.

last thing i bought from joliet:

ebay item: 88 kawasaki ex500
"runs"
drove a day and a half there and a day and a half back
arrived to the "owners" house at 2:15 am, well below 0 degrees farenheit
a "sketchy black man" comes from behind the house... about 2:17am at this point.
he informs us that the bike IS his but the house is a relative's who is not home.   ???  about 2:20am.
NO... we can't go inside to enjoy any sort of warmth.
tried to start the bike, barely ran.
paid the man his 800 dollars minus a couple hundred for our trouble for driving thousands of miles for a bike "not as described".
for the 3rd time a cop car slowly rolls by... 2:30 am and butt ass cold!
"sketchy black man" asks if we'd like to smoke some weed... damn dude, we thought you'd never ask... he says "ok, i've got the papers, do you have any weed?"    ???
we drove away with said motorcycle and god knows how many butcherings from god knows how many previous owners.
spent the next four months correcting said butcherings.

Dunno. That's what it says on the package; "Scottish Farmed Salmon Trout".
Personallly I like to season with salt and pepper and some parsely, sprinkle liberally with olive oil, juice of a lemon, a dash of dry white wine then enclose in aluminium foil place on a heat resistant dish for 35 - 40 mins in a preheated oven. Mind the bones, they're vicious.
When you start glowing in the dark or growing  fish scales under your armpits, stop eating the stuff.

sorry... sketchy african american  :P

but really... when a man as black as night comes from around a darkened house at well after the witching hour... he is a sketchy black man.

its part of the story, dude, and i'm not being racist.  he was not sketchy because he's black, he was sketchy because he was barely discernible in the black of night and black was a descriptor to help you understand why he was barely discernible rather than go through this long ramble during my story.

I don't think Heff meant that because he's black makes him sketchy.  People in can be sketchy regardless of race.  In fact, I've met some sketchy white guys...  You know, the guy who rides around in a beat up 84 Ford and is missing most of his teeth, who smells so strong of whiskey that it makes you drunk and who wants to show you the motorcycle behind his meth-factory-resembling double wide?

Yeah, I've met that guy.  He was rather sketchy  ;D

its part of the story dude and i'm not being racist.  too bad you took it that way, but he was not sketchy because he's black, he was sketchy because he was barely discernible in the black of night and black was a descriptor to help you understand why he was barely discernible rather than go through this long ramble during my story.

I thought of razzin' you too... just to be a stinker. ;D I know what ya meant and have never read anything from you to suggest a racist bent, as too with Hondaman, but in today's world (what ever that means) we have to tip toe through the language mine field. I'm surprised though you bought what clearly could have been stolen property. ;)

Tisk, tisk. I on the other hand have never bought, say... a complete stereo still in the box for 20 bucks and a case of Fosters. Never.

edit: forgot to mention it came from the back of a van, how cliche. The hypothetical example I gave that is.

Isn't the 407 area code Florida?

Seems a long way away to be selling a Warehouse full of bikes!

Also, I saw that listing on our local CL a few days ago and now it is gone (Don't remember what city it was located in)....that smells more than fishy to me...
