Yes I am on the path to clean the bars as much as possible. If you do not run the cable can you please give me some insight on starting?

You have a ... '77 cb760 motor and carbs?('78 mabey?)

Will a set of earlier cb750 carbs fit your motor and carb isolators?
I bought a '73 set of cb750 carbs for my 650, and got the choke engagement on the side of the carb, no cable involved, all mechanical linkages. kinda of a pain to set right, but works great once set.

If you are talking 77/78 750, you can run without. Give it a couple blips of throttle before starting, the pump should squirt in enough to start. in real cold weather it may not stay running, myself I dont like walking aweay from one warming up.

So it is a comprimise, the stock system has  fast idle I think and works well.. you could relocate it down to the side of the carbs or under tank so you can reach it with your left hand..

Sorry forgot to mention that part. It is a cb750f. I dont walk away from the bike either while it is warming up. I may just run without it. or shorten the cable to where it just sits near the carb body.

Me too.

On my 650 My choke cable became stuck and I just learned to start the motor without it.I twist the throttle 2 or 3 times and give the ol' button a push with a couple throttle twists right after.  Seems to start easy that way.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.

I was wondering about this as well.  My choke cable ahs been unsecured for longer than I've owned it, and just got the bracket to fasten it to the whateverit'scalled.  Have seen choke cables very short coming right off the carbs, instead of being 2-3' long.  I've got to choke mine no matter the temp if the engine has not been run in the last hour or so.  thanks
