An update:
Am reassembling now. I've had a chance to clean, polish etc most part and am preparing to install the engine. Along with rebuild engine has new points and valves are adjusted. front and rear rims ready and with new tires. I'll install the engine tomorrow and the rear wheel after.

Polished up well...

Seat is original and in good shape so I'm not replacing it.

Need to deal with paint soon.

Wallah, can see 3 now. The first one was not appearing before, just a box with an X in the corner, but now it has appeared. Cheers, looks great.

Horizontal Honda...

So Today I placed the engine in the frame. I  no doubt loaded the frame too heavily before undertaking this procedure however even with the seat, rear fender and other associated bits on the frame it went well.

It required the engine be a few inches off the deck to place the frame over and clear obstacles however that was easily facilitated.

It was easier to remove the breather and oil pan rather than struggle with the install obstacles.

I just used a block and tackle fastened at the rafters to gently lower the frame onto mounts.

Once I rigged the frame in the air..it took only about 20 minutes to complete.

I will add the rear wheel (once a new rear sprocket comes from Western Hills) prior to lifting the entire unit off the deck and rolling it sideways to the floor and on the centre stand. With the rear wheel in place the bike will sit nicely for final fit up of misc parts and the front end.

Big day today... looks like this bike may actually run someday. I have the fuel tank to deal with this week. I've had it full of white vinegar for a week. I'll be cleaning it out and coating the tank this week (Kreem - 3 part fuel tank liner); then the carb kit and carb cleaning; paint and finally front end assembly.

This is how I install my engines in the 350F Jim, but I did not have all the extras on the frame like you did.
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=44767.0
Easier for me to man handle with nothing attached, but I guess the day will come when I want to install one like you with more goodies attached and will revert to using a block and tackle. Looking good. Keep up the good work.

Yes;
I read much of your thread and it was that post which inspired the attempt (altough my obsession that precipitated the partial assembly prior).
Thanks

Hello everyone;

I'm back to to the garage after a cold winter (and after building an addition to the house). I am beginning to reassemble the bike; I have some pics to share.

Starting with the front end everything is going well other than for the wiring in the bucket. I have one "solid" brown remaining... i suppose I will need to refer to the wiring diagram (always a last resort).

Also  have 4/4 headers but need to source silencers...

I need to provide some liquids after the engine rebuild...

I have a new chain, front sprocket but cant find a rear..I any suggestions???? Please help.

I am having a problem loading the brake fluyid and am concerned i may need to rebuild the master cylinder... Can someone provide a link to any tech tips or instructions ??

Like the colour?  I have a green '73 cant decide which is nicer....

-When I wired mine back together I had the same issue, an extra brown and an extra black wire.  After going over the bike a few times I decided to check the Honda wiring diagram and discovered that they are supposed to be there. Not sure why, but they are.

I'll put my vote in for keeping it red, but then I just might be biased

Nice build.  Not sure how I missed it before.  Guess I don't get on here often enough.  I don't know how guys like you and Tim get through these rebuilds so fast.

good build Jim, while I prefer more modified bikes, You're doing a great job on restoring a classic look.  With a bike restored as well as yours (both Red and Green versions), I would ride them like they are!  No mods needed.

Keep it up!

Thanks;
I'm new to riding... just 3 years and have 3 bikes now. Always wanted to try this bike resto thing and this forum motivated me and now and supports the habit. I had never disassembled a bike prior to 3 years ago - I think these old Honda's are the perfect project; small, accessable parts and easy to ride.

Thanks Phil... I'm still planning that trip and have your contacts for when it happens. (I'll take you up on that offer to ride!) I still have a few arms to twist before I get there and so don't expect a trip happen before 2010 but I've made it a priority to fo$$ow thru on.

I'm Back!

Had a month or so with too many other issues getting in the way of my project. I've considered the options and decided to splurge for new silencers. I've attached pics, they are quite nice and installed without too much trouble although i get a bit of contact between #1 header and the sidestand; I will need to adjust.

This is a pic of the bike (with last years resto) after pipes installed.

I have not attempted start yet. I expect to try that on the weekend. With a bit of luck i will be successful. This bike, now rebuilt, has not run for almost 20years.

Tim, if you are there....id you post that video? I would do same if i can get this monster running...
thx
