found someone local to finish up the wiring , Cycle Doctor in Mesa AZ .. everything went good ... I've got it running but after sitting for a while it definitely doesn't want to idle and generally isn't running great. I'm going to pull off the carbs and give them a good cleaning.

I did manage to get a ride up the street, it doesn't sound great but it's something. I'm sure I'll get blasted for my general lack of safety in this video, sorry.

EDIT: changed to a HD version of the video .. love my new iphone. my camera man on the other hand is a bit shaky.

safety is for norms.
looks good- I think it sounds like your plugs aren't gapped right or you have a lean condition going on.

This Video is from today .. I cleaned my idle jets out .. they were clogged .. and I upped the main jets from 118 to 125 ..

running much better but still definitely needs some tuning.

Tried to get it through emissions here in Maricopa county yesterday .. didn't go well ..

I passed CO at 3.50 which had to be under 5.50 ..
but I failed HC at 2573 which needed to be under 1800 ..

Going I don't have to experience or knowledge to finish the fine tuning to be able to get it to pass so I think I'll get it back to the shop to have them check the carbs, timing and dwell out..

I've also heard about using alcohol in the fuel to get it to pass but I'm not sure what adverse effects that can have so I'm a little leery about doing it ..

Any advice?

Great bike, sounds awesome! Your correct some tuning is in order however its not bad..

Keep up the great work on her.. Sorry I don't know anything about using alcohol and its adverse effects..

there's no emissions here in FL, but when there was, we didn't have to do it on vehicles that weren't manufactured with a catalytic converter.

if you use alcohol you need to lean out the mixture alot.
I used to ride a 6 horse minibike on a 1:1 mix of 70% nitro R/C alcohol and gas. the carburetor would ice up and it HAULED ASS!
only problem was I had to pull the head and wire wheel the piston and combustion chamber after every tenth tank.
it topped out at 30 on gas and 65 on the 1:1 mix.
the RPMs were way over the top.

Here's some of the latest pics .. The bike is at a shop now getting tuned so I can hopefully get it through emissions this week.

Ordered some clamp on passenger pegs as well .. Also picked up one of carpy's license plate holders that is made from a connecting rod from ebay..

Bike is in the shop .. had to order some new intake manifold boots for it .. was part of the rough running for sure ..

Was also thinking of replacing the clutch plates .. the bike always wants to lurch forward .. slams in gear and won't go into neutral while stopped. .. . I've found a ton of sites that have aftermarket clutch plates but none that carry honda ones ..

Called the stealership and they wanted like 200$ for the set or something ridiculous.. You guys have another source for these or do you know a comparable aftermarket?

Yeah, those forks look too long to be stock length..

I would guess your fork tubes just look long cuz everybody's used to seeing the gaiters. Dude, trying to shift with sandals might have something to do with your clutch worries! I know it's hot in Phoenix, but at least go for chuck taylors.

yea I think its the gators, and with the lower bars the gauges make it look high might want to lower their angle a bit.

Don't like gaitors and have never used them, those tubes still look long..Might just be the pics but the distance between the bottom clamp and the lowers looks too big for mine..

So I got one of these ...

from Carpy and decided to mod it up a little .. here are a couple pictures ..

I thought it stuck out a little to far from the bike and didn't like the flatness of the plate mount .. I cut it apart .. re-welded it so the plate would be closer to the bike .. then sandblasted everything and repainted.

My basset hound loves the garage..

I wanted the connecting rod to look like a connecting rod so I left it bare and sprayed it with matte finish clear coat.

Here you can see how much further in it will sit .. the picture is deceptive but it will still mount on the bike.

What thickness is the plate (the mount, not the license plate

)? The one I made for my bike is a little flimsy, need to beef it up some. Also, looks great!

I'm not 100% what the thickness is but you cannot bend it by hand .. I had to heat it with map gas and then bend it in a vise with an auto body hammer. I'd wanna say its about the thickness of a dime 16 gauge? ?
