Topic: CB350f Cafe Seat

I am in the process of getting my clubmans on and am now looking at seats.  Can anyone post pics of cafe seats they have on their bikes and where they purchased them?  Anybody got anything for sale?  Im trying to do a cafe on the cheap....probably just bars and seat for now.

I like the bump seat style becuase you can still ride 2 up and get the cafe look.  Maybe a bit shorter then this example.  Cant seem to find one of these anywhere?  Is this guys just a modified stock seat?

I think that is a Guilari (someone please correct the spelling of that...) seat on the bike in the picture.

As for modifying a stock seat, just use the search function. It has been done many times with success.

Love the green! Thats the color 350F I rode many years ago.

It is the 'double seat' version of a Giuliari seat with the smaller hump in comparison with the one person seat version.

do a search for cb400f race project and you'll get my project thread toward the top of your results... toward the end of the thread are many pictures of what i did to accomodate a passenger (like i'm ever going to have one!) and keep a racey look... compare my end product to a cbr600 f2 or f3 seat and you'll figure out my inspiration.

... both seats were cut down from stock and reupholstered.  use marine grade vinyl for lasting looks and weatherproof-ness... found quite economically at most fabric stores.

Heffay....that seat on yours looks great!  I think thats the route I'm going to go.

I don't know what kinda drugs you are smoking but you can't ride 2 up on 99% of the bum stop seats out there and for good reason - the point of a bum stop is to stop your bum from sliding back under acceleration (not that that is really a problem on a 350F). Aside from the rare guilari example and a few ducktail style home made seats you really can't have it both ways, Espically if you are over 150 lbs and taller than 5'3. Guilari seats use a much different pan that is longer than stock and that is how they get away with it - I doubt you will find a seat as long as they are.

Personally, I would just get a proper bum stop solo seat and keep your stocker around for when you really want to ride two up (two up on a 350F - hope your passenger is light) and switch between the two. If you are hard set on riding 2 up and having  some kind of a bumstop, take your seat pan and have an upolstry shop copy the BSA seat shape.

Geeto...thanks for the comments.  Strong tone there....apologize if I was out of line suggesting riding two up on a bum stop.  I just dont want to screw myself out of a good night by not being able to carry a passenger.

As someone who has been pulled over for riding in the above mentioned scenario, it is not as fun as it sounds. Espically when it turns out your passenger's visa has expired and they are now an illegal alien and have to be shipped back to ireland, causes all sorts of multi-hour delays.   

I like heffay's seat idea also, not a true bum stop but it will do the job. The 73 350f fair'd cafe has the BSA style ducktail that I mentioned earlier.

BTW, lowering the seat height is going to change your riding position, since you are going with clubmans bars you probably want to think about rearsets also.

Try the address in Nippon's signature for Guiliari replicas. They still make them but it will cost you $$$.

I want one of these for my 400F. Ted at Classic Cycle City makes them for the 550K and the 750's I think. It'll cost you around $400 USD. He has them on eBay all the time.

look at #2........$140 thats a pretty good deal if your pan is in good shape!...at least in my opinion

I made my seat out of fiberglass.. try www.dotheton.com, they have a special sub board of seat builds including a lot of fiberglass ones.


then I upholstered it by hand with needle and thread using an old leather jacket from the thrift store
