74 550K runs flat after 2000 RPMs
« on: November 14, 2008, 03:55:27 pm »
Hi, Ok it's better but it still runs flat after 2000 RPMs. I have a 74 550K I just built the carbs and sycrionized them. Someone had built them before and they were way off. I road it today and it's better but it's still flat after 2000 RPMs. It will still go faster but it takes a while. Any one run in to this before? Thanks Tattoo

I just bought the bike. NO intake leak I checked with carb cleaner. I built the carbs. I haven't checked the points or timing. I guess that's next? Tattoo

You need to do a complete tune-up and check up first.

you need:
new plugs
new oil
check points
check timing
adjust cam chain
check valve clearances
carb synch

THEN see how it goes.
No.

You also need to tell us if the stock exhaust and air filter are being used.  And, if the air filter is new.

Yes I'm sure that would help. New filter with stock air box. 2 into 2 aftermarket exhaust. Tattoo
