So, with the stock market meltdown, it looks like I will have a lot of time on my hands starting in a couple months. Looks like it might be time to start digging into the F3 750 sitting in the garage.
This bike sat for God knows how many years prior to it coming into my possession. The engine is frozen. I think it very likely is the rings have gone all zen-like with the cylinder sleeves (they have become one with everything). I also expect, based on that presumption, that the sleeves will turn out to be pitted and requiring of a bore job. Since free time comes with a price, I am looking to avoid having to buy a $500 big bore kit and $240 bore job. Instead of boring I was thinking of picking up a cylinder block with good sleeves and performing a transplant. Then I could get by with new rings only. It's a shame too. This bike has only 4,700 original miles.
My question: are F3 750 sleeves different from earlier sleeves or can I get a block from any year 750 and use those sleeves?
