650 cam in a 500??
« on: November 11, 2008, 03:04:11 PM »
I've read with interest all I can regarding putting a 650 cam into a 550 and with the 550 & 500 being so similar has any one ever tried the 650 in a 500?
Reason I'm asking is my 550 motor is completely torn apart and my 500 motor is a good runner and I just don't have the skill level and time to do a complete rebuild of the 550 motor which I was planning on parting out thus the reason why it's disassembled.
Also could I just take the head and pistons from the 550 and swap them onto the 500 thus providing a gain in CC's??

The only real difference between the two was the bore and clutch.
Your complete top end should just swap over.

Have at it

and if i'm not mistaken. i believe you could bolt a 650 head onto the 550 engine. i might be wrong though
