Starter Motor Problems
« on: November 12, 2008, 06:28:51 AM »
Howdy,

My starter motor gear is not engaging and spinning freely when I hit the start button on my '69 Honda CL450. What is the likely culprit? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am looking for a kickstarter for this bike as it didn't come with one. Will most if not all Cl350/CB350/CB450 kickstarters work for my bike??

Starter problems are usually the rollers etc in the sprague clutch behind the generator rotor. No idea on kickstart sorry
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
