I haven't posted for a while since it was a little soggy around here after hurricane Ike blew through. Just getting the house back to a liveable state but consider ourselves lucky to have a house to restore. Now for the real issue. My 550 engine was sitting on a wooden pallet at the end of the workbench when the water rose. Side covers off to be polished at the time. The motor was covered by salt water and the crankcase/trans was filled for about two weeks before I could get it dumped out. Still no time to tear it down for an inspection or rebuild. Now its been two months. Assuming the worse and I have to replace the engine, what is the average US price for a good 550 engine minus carbs and starter? Haven't looked very hard yet, just need a price range so I don't get soaked.
