Topic: Valve Guide

Hi,

I'm about to install a new valve guide in my '72 CL 350 Twin. I've been told that heating the head up in the oven helps make it easier to put the guide in.

I found it got the guide out of my other head pretty well. Any advice on installation, though? I don't want to mess up my new guide.

I forgot to add: the valve guide needs reaming. Does anyone know how to handle this? Should I go to a machine shop to have it done?
This is what the dealer recommends.

I would compare shop price vs.cost to buy reamer.If comparable,do it yourself.Great feeling of accomplishment and the tool for future use to boot!   Rock On

The problem is the dealer doesn't have a reamer in stock--and can't order it. He says that's one they had in the 'old days'.

I need one of those dealers that has all the old parts still lying around, but the one here in town is out of business.

Hi.If u know reamer size that's required,I would think you could get it through any reputable tool or factory supply house.  Rock On

I think you will find that its an "ODD" sized reamer, you need an old workshop book too check

Hi.Dug out my Tool Manual.For Models CB250K3,CL250K3,CB350K4,CL350K4,SL250,and SL350K3 da book lists 7mm valve guide reamer.Hope this helps.  Part #07984-5900000.  Rock On

P.S.Shop manual for CB250,360,and CL360 lists same 7mm reamer.Rock On
