And it was a good deal - but not THAT good. It was honestly a charity case for me.
In Montana that bike is worth about $1500 complete and in good running condition.
So even $300 was a bit of a stretch. Tires were dry rotted, no air box, tank was rusted pretty badly - likely pinholes, etc. etc. etc. None of it a deal breaker - but you start adding that s^%$ up and you're to $1500 in flash even without any surprises (and they're ALWAYS surprises!)

But it would have been a cool project - no doubt. That said, I like riding them WAY more than I like working on them. There will be other, better projects - they come up here all the time.

What I really want is an early 750 ...
I know how it is tho, looking from Vancouver, B.C.; or Seattle, or Cali, or wherever - you see these bikes out here and think, daaaaamn!! I used to do the same thing

And it is great - BUT, to bring some reality, I'm also marooned in the middle of the arid great plains and it's 10 hours to the closest city - 14 hours to the west coast. It's beautiful country, and I love my home - but, I would swap you a whole garage full of vintage bikes for a good job and small apartment in downtown Vancouver.
