oil under stator cover
« on: November 24, 2013, 09:46:36 PM »
does the 78 CB550K have a dry stator or what?
its not a lot of oil mind you, but i didn't think any should be under the cover.
now, i have the crank seals ready, but could it be the block plug o-ring seeping oil?
I'd rather not split the cases if possible.

There's an aluminum plug at the bottom. It's an oil passage under the crank. On the opposite side, there's a cap that you can undo. Stick something long in there and tap out the plug. There's o-rings on both of those.

There are also two oil drain caps underneath the engine, but unless they're leaking, no need to mess with em. Mine were on for so long I rounded one off and gave up.
