Ford and GM Australia being sold off?
« on: November 18, 2008, 02:56:41 PM »
Well, it looks like the US financial meltdown is having an effect on Oz, apparently Ford and GM Australia (Chrysler went bust here in 1980) may be sold off to wealthy Chinese and Indian manufacturers to prop up the bankrupted US parent companies? Bugger!

I wonder what a Chinese Ford, or an Indian GM(Holden) will look like? ::)

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ha ha, in yer dreams Jerry, GM couldn't afford to buy me, and you know I'm cheap!

Now back to reality for a moment, Our Prime Minister, (like your President Bush, only not stupid) "Big Kev" Rudd, has offered to bail out Ford and GM here in Oz to the tune of 6 billion bucks, if they build more fuel efficient cars here, and promise not to import any more US built gas guzzling shiit boxes.

That's a great idea I reckon, my son just bought a US import Ford Explorer, and I couldn't believe what God-awful fuel consumption it gets? It's hard to believe that a 4 liter US built V6 uses almost twice as much gas as my Aussie built 4 liter straight 6 Ford? Farken hell!  :o

Dunno that we'd get anything for it.......

"We"? Don't tell me you've got shares in GM Tim? Geez, I thought you were smarter than that, ha ha! ;D

G'Day Trampy, we already do, the American Pontiac G8 is a Aussie car called a (GM) Holden Commodore here.

Good news today is that due to the Aussie government's bailout of GM and Ford in Oz, the recent decision by Ford Australia to close the engine plant in Geelong, Victoria in 2010 has been cancelled, saving up to 1300 jobs, which is great news, as I said, I'm a Ford fan, so I want to see Ford and GM prosper! Cheers, Terry. ;D
